Dr. Sherif Baha el-Din is the scientific consultant for Wildlife of the Holy Land; AUC Press Nature Foldout
Dr. Baha el-Din is one of Egypt’s most prominent naturalists and accomplished natural history artist. His involvement in developing Egypt’s protected areas have made him a key figure in environmental circles. Apart from being an environmental consultant, he is also the President of Nature Conservation Egypt (NCE) and the BirdLife International Affiliate for Egypt. (From an article by Louise Sarant for Egypt Independent: http://www.egyptindependent.com//news/sherif-baha-el-din-30-years-dedication-nature)
Dr. Baha el-Din is also author/artist of several fantastic publications from AUC Press, including his wonderfully illustrated Common Birds of Egypt (AUC Press, 1999) and A Guide to the Reptiles and Amphibians of Egypt (AUC Press, 2006)
Other publications include the Directory of Important Bird Areas in Egypt for BirdLife International.
A PDF report for BirdLife International titled Important Bird Areas in Africa and associated islands – Egypt includes one of my favorite of his illustrations, a Pharoah Eagle-Owl, Bubo ascalaphus, overlooking the Giza Pyramids.
