Special Thanks and Bibliography for the AUC Press Nature Foldouts

The AUC Press Nature Foldouts are filled with condensed information from numerous sources, including people and places throughout Egypt and beyond. There’s simply no room to spare on the foldouts, and yet there are many people I feel it is important to thank for their valuable assistance, and many books without which I would be helpless to complete this work.

SPECIAL THANKS to scientific consultants Dr. Salima Ikram, Richard Hoath, John Wyatt, Dr. Matthew Lamanna, Dr. Sherif Baha El Din, and Dr. Medhat Said.

Thank you to the Chicago House Library and staff in Luxor for allowing me access to their special collection of rare Egypt books, especially Ray, Brett, Susan, Keli, and Marie. Thanks to Anthony Browder and Dr. Elena Pischikova, Ramadan Ahmed, Katherine, Ken, Atlantis, Dietrich and Trisha, for the experience at the South Asasif excavation site. I would also like to thank Tim Bailey, Ahmed Abd, Ahmed Hashem, little Braheem, and Jumah (my felucca boatman in Aswan).

Thank you again to Richard Hoath and to the US Forest Service, Department of Agriculture, for funding the translation of the first four Nature Foldouts into Arabic, and to our fantastic translator Dr. Yasmine Motawy. (We look forward to finding additional funding for the printing and distribution of the Arabic translations in Egypt.)

And so much gratitude to Ashraf Yunis Ali Boghdadi for all his invaluable assistance and support since the beginning and throughout this project.

Special thanks to Dawn Ericson of Manta Publications for inspiring and designing the Nature Foldout series, and without whose support this work could never have happened.

And thank you to Neil for his superb editing, and EVERYONE at American University in Cairo Press for all their wonderful support to produce and distribute this series.

-Dominique Navarro
